Details

A unique concept in the heart of the Valais Alps. Completely renovated guesthouse with restaurant, large sun terrace, 10 bedrooms and seminar room.

Probably the most beautiful mountain restaurant in the Saas Valley. Owner Xaver Bumann has transformed Café Trift into a wonderful mountain lodge.

100 years of Café Triftalp… almost!
1927
Year of construction of the now almost 100-year-old Café Triftalp. The builder was Elias Andenmatten, whose family ran Café Triftalp until the end of the 1950s.
1963
Change of ownership – after the guest house had been closed for several years, the café was reopened by Gertrud and Theophil Zurbriggen.
At that time, transport was only possible by mule and ‘Tschifra’ (carrying basket). A few years later, helicopters were used.
1979
Road construction “Saas-Grund – Triftalp”. From then on, goods could be transported by car.
2003
After 40 years of working at Café Triftalp, Gertrud Zurbriggen took her well-deserved retirement.
2004
Liliane and Rolf Andenmatten ran the café for one summer.
2005
The restaurant is run by siblings Arian and Katja Bumann.
2011
After a nine-year lease of the Kreuzboden mountain restaurant, Xaver Bumann acquires Café Triftalp and renovates it extensively.
2012
In the summer of 2012, the café shines in new splendour and reopens as a year-round business.
2013
Conversion to Triftalphütte with traditional Alpine cuisine and buffet service.
2020
From summer 2020, the business is run by Annelore and Alex Burgener.
